Toy Story 5 Teaser Pits The Beloved Duo Versus a Tablet Computer
Exactly 30 years since the first Toy Story movie debuted, establishing the animation giant as a major animation studio and bringing viewers to iconic figures like Woody (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now household names.
In 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed recently, offering a glimpse into the storyline but keeping fans wondering how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Frightens the Gang
In the teaser reveals the young girl — who received the toy collection when he grew up — receiving a brand new toy, one that alarms the familiar toy group. She gets her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.
Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like the rest of her playthings. However, the toys appear to consider it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
One thing the trailer avoids is why Woody is returned with his companions in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), traveling with a fair and helping prize toys locate loving owners.
Certainly, the filmmakers will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him show up in the familiar setting unexpectedly is a little strange, though. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have returned with Woody. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?
Connections from the Previous Film
At the very least, some elements are continuing from the prior film. The final act the cowboy did before setting off for his new life was pass his symbol of authority to Jessie (the voice actor), leaving her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip displays the insignia pinned to her outfit.
It is hoped she is still the driving force among the group.
Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
