Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
Lando Norris has beaten Oscar Piastri at all of the last five race weekends.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat fellow driver and championship contender the Australian for the top spot in the final moments of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who grabbed the title advantage from his teammate by one point after taking the win in Mexico City two weeks ago, topped the Australian by 0.023 seconds.
Until that point, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren throughout the hour before the sprint shootout set to begin at 6:30 PM GMT.
Max Verstappen, the other racer in the championship fight, lying 36 points Norris, ended up in 17th place as his Red Bull team opted for a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to crash, if briefly, when he lost control at corner four during the early running.
Tsunoda lost control over the curbs on exit before spinning across the gravel trap, and was lucky to avoid just a light touch of the fence.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also spun, at the conclusion of the practice, turning around through the quick descending Mergulho turn approaching the last turn on to the start-finish straight.
The veteran wrapped up in 19th, one place behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were far ahead of the remaining drivers, with Nico Hulkenberg's car third fastest, 0.619secs slower than Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was in fourth, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto ahead of the Mercedes of George Russell and Alpine's Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
