Close to 25,000 Left Without Power in South-East Queensland and Victoria Following Powerful Storms
Nearly 25,000 residences in south-east Queensland woke up without power on the start of the week after severe thunderstorms swept through the region, producing wind gusts hitting 109km/h.
Large Ice Stones and Widespread Impact
Homeowners reported substantial frozen pellets measuring up to seven centimeters in particular locations. The Bureau of Meteorology announced that various areas across Queensland had been hit with large hailstones.

Utility workers were attempting to repair power throughout the damaged zones, with nearly 70 crews deployed to handle the extensive power failures.
Victorian Climate Difficulties
Simultaneously, nearly 1,000 households in the southern state also experienced energy failures after Melbourne saw its wettest day in a year and a half.
Rescue organizations handled 598 calls for help across the region, primarily for property damage but also for downed trees and water accumulation.

- The Werribee area - recorded considerable storm damage
- Hoppers Crossing suburb - numerous rescue reports
- Wyndham region - nearly 180 emergency requests
At one point on yesterday, in excess of twenty-eight thousand energy customers in the state were lacking electricity.
Climate Outlook
Moist weather were predicted to continue along much of Queensland's east this next several days as a weather pattern continued to draw in moisture against the coastal areas.
Tuesday was predicted as the heaviest precipitation period, with persistent thunderstorm potential expected across multiple regions of both regions.

Medical authorities cautioned that there was an increased chance of weather-related respiratory issues across the countryside regions, particularly given the existing atmospheric conditions.
